EUSMAT organizes different events for international master and PhD students as well as post-docs working in experimental and/or modeling/simulation in any field of materials science and engineering.

In September 2023, EUSMAT hosted in Saarbrücken the NFDI-MatWerk Summer School 2023 with the topic Research Data Management in Materials Science and Engineering.

Participants learned about the FAIR principles and the fundamentals of scientific metadata as well as some important tricks about programming with python and machine learning with neuronal networks. They were also able to visit the German Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI). Workshops on Research Data Management Plan (RDMP) and Electronic Lab Notebooks (ELNs) were hold by professional speakers.

The NFDI-MatWerk & FAIRmat Summer School 2026 – Research Data Management in Materials Science and Engineering will take place in April 2026 in Erlangen, Germany.

CIRKLA Summer School 2026 will take place from 7th to 11th of September 2026 at the Saarland University in Saarbrücken, Germany.
