CIRKLA Certificate
The „CIRKLA Certificate“ provides comprehensive, cross-industry knowledge of the circular economy. By participating in various courses in the Greater Region, students can expand their expertise and develop specific skills in this field. The circular economy plays a crucial role in a sustainable future by conserving resources, reducing waste, and contributing to the development of innovative, environmentally friendly business models. The certificate serves as official proof of acquired competencies and enhances one’s position in the international job market.
The „CIRKLA Certificate“ offers students the opportunity to engage comprehensively with the circular economy and acquire valuable skills for their professional future. The “CIRKLA Certificate” is part of the UniGR-CIRKLA project, funded by the Interreg VI A Greater Region programme (2021–2027).

In addition, the certificate provides maximum flexibility: students can choose from various modules to deepen their knowledge in a targeted way. Whether in entrepreneurship, metallurgy, materials science, or other specialized fields, courses take place both at their home university and at least one European UniGR partner university.
The „CIRKLA Certificate“ consists of at least 15 ETCS.
The corresponding courses are regular courses that RPTU and the UniGR partner universities offer each semester on the topic of circular economy. Students can select various courses from the course catalogues of the RPTU and the UniGR partner universities (see below), taking into account their individual interests, and thus qualify for the international, cross-border labour market.
How it works:
Start with the basic course “Circular Entrepreneurship” at RPTU. The mandatory course “Circular Entrepreneurship” is a fully digital module that introduces the fundamentals and significance of the circular economy in entrepreneurship. Here, students learn how to develop sustainable business models and use resources efficiently.
You then customize your focus by taking courses at at least two of the following partner universities: RPTU • Universität Lüttich • Université de Lorraine • Universität des Saarlandes • Universität Trier • htw saar
The courses are held in German, English, or French and cover topics such as:
- Recycling & resource efficiency
- Sustainable production & innovation
- Circular business models
- Product life cycles & intelligent use of materials
Your benefits:
- Future-oriented knowledge in circular economy & sustainability
- Cross-border study experience
- Multilingual & interdisciplinary learning
- Flexible, modular structure – easy to integrate into your studies
